Lifelong Hibs fan Welsh, who was born in Muirhouse but is now based in the United States, became a household name following the success of iconic novel Trainspotting, and returns to Edinburgh ahead of the Easter Road side’s clash with St Mirren on Saturday September 21st.

Welsh will be holding a Q&A session with guests, delivering a short reading from Filth, and is due to sign copies of his books.

The club have adopted an advertising campaign that plays on the ‘Choose life’ speech from Trainspotting.

In the making for 15 years - almost the same timeframe since the film of Trainspotting was released - Filth tells the story of corrupt copper Bruce Robertson, played by James McAvoy, who is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to ensure he gets it.

Drafted in to solve a particularly gruesome murder and threatened by his ambitious colleagues, Bruce sets about orchestrating their downfall. As he turns his fellow officers against each other by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past begins to catch up with him, and a number of factors begin to have a serious effect on his sanity.
