Hibs ‘keeper Calum Antell joins East Fife on loan

Hibs reserve goalkeeper Calum Antell has joined East Fife on loan until the start of next year, leaving the Easter Road outfit with only 19-year-old Paul Grant as back-up to No. 1 Ben Williams.

The former Welsh youth international has been an ever-present on the bench this season, but was today in line to make his debut for the Second Division Fife outfit against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview.

Antell (20) spent last season on loan with East Stirling and was voted their player of the year as Grant picked up a Scottish Cup runners-up medal as he suddenly found himself second choice for the Hampden final against Hearts after Graham Stack was ruled out through injury.

Antell said: “I’ve enjoyed being part of the first team squad this season, but I missed playing on a regular basis.

“So I’m looking forward to getting some game time under my belt at East Fife and coming back in January as a more experienced goalkeeper.”

Antell joins fellow Hibs youngsters Scott Smith, who has extended his loan spell at Bayview for a further month, and Jordon Forster who has been farmed out to the Methil club until January.
