HIBERNIAN

Mark Oxley - 8

The Englishman made two crucial saves in either half and was a reassuring presence throughout the game.

David Gray - 7

The dependable right back was just that. Concentrated on keeping Lee Wallace at bay while also making a number of crucial interventions.

Darren McGregor - 7

Combined with centre back partner Paul Hanlon to keep Martin Waghorn under wraps. Was unfortunate with the own goal.

Paul Hanlon - 7

Scored the winning goal and put in a winning performance at the back. Like all good centre back partnerships he and McGregor had each other’s back.

Lewis Stevenson - 8

Lucky not to give away a penalty early with a clumsy challenge on Jason Holt. Grew into the game, driving forward in the first half before a more protective second half. Developed a good understanding with McGinn.

John McGinn - 9

Best player on the park. Was a hive of activity in both phases of play. Supported Stevenson excellently in the second half and was a constant driving force down the wing and through the middle. Played a wonderful ball to set up a chance for Jason Cummings and displayed his power and skill on more than one occasion.

Fraser Fyvie - 8

Pressed, harried and hunted ferociously in the first half, especially with the stability of Marvin Bartley. More disciplined in the second half but still wanted to get on the ball and tigerish out of possession.

Dylan McGeouch - 6

Started well. Industrious, busy and moved the precisely before succumbing to injury.

Liam Henderson - 7

Had an impressive first half on the right hand side of midfield. Tied Lee Wallace in knots more than once but struggled when Rangers pushed Hibs back in the second half.

Jason Cummings - 7

A constant threat in behind. Missed a glorious chance in the second half with the scores level but had opened the scoring with a Leigh Griffiths-esque strike in the first half.

Dominique Malonga - 6

Dazzled in stages in the opening half. Worked himself into promising areas but lacked an end product. Fizzled out in the second half where he was more of a hindrance than a threat.

Hibs subs

Marvin Bartley - 7

A solid display from the early substitute. A specialist midfielder which Hibs only have one of, he acted as a stable base for the midfield.

James Keatings - 5

Came on and gave a fine defensive showing. Little chance to showcase his attacking qualities.

Islam Feruz - 4

Late sub and like Keatings had to concentrate and on his defensive responsibilities.

RANGERS

Wes Foderingham 5

His distribution with his feet was mixed. Made a couple of smart saves from Cummings and McGInn but was caught under the ball for Hanlon’s winner.

Dominic Ball 6

Started as part of a central defensive three, despite what his manager claimed pre-match. Kept possession well but wasn’t comfortable defending the full-back areas.

Rob Kiernan 5

Lost possession with long balls on a few occasions in the first half and caught out of position a number of times, including for the Cummings one-on-one.

Danny Wilson 4

Was turned too easily for the opening goal then was found diving in on a few other occasions in the first half. Replaced in the second half as Rangers returned to a more familiar shape.

James Tavernier 4

Seemed lost pushed further forward into an official wing-back role. Unlucky not to score at 1-0 but lost his marker at the corner for Hibernian’s winner.

Jason Holt 6

At the heart of the large amounts of possession his side had but lacked any killer pass. Should have won a penalty for his side early on.

Andy Halliday 6

Like Holt, kept possession well but didn’t provide much service to those ahead of him. Also didn’t screen the defence as effectively as he has in previous matches.

Barrie McKay 5

Fielded in an unfamiliar central role and found himself crowded out by the narrow Hibernian midfield. Moved to the left wing in the second half but was just as unproductive.

Lee Wallace 8

Got more joy than his right-sided counterpart in the first half then scored his side’s equaliser early in the second. Unlucky not to put his side ahead later on.

Martyn Waghorn 6

Crowded out in the areas he likes to drop into in the first half though broke free to create the equaliser in the second. Better in the second half but missed a great chance to equalise late on.

Nicky Clark 5

Worked hard and linked well with his teammates a few times but faded as the first half wore on. Replaced early in the second half

Gers subs

Nathan Oduwa 5

Pulled out some skill shortly after coming on then saw his shot come back off the post at 1-1. Faded after that and failed to get the better of Lewis Stevenson.

Gedion Zelalem 5

Replaced Danny Wilson as Rangers returned to a familiar shape and, like those alongside him, kept possession but failed to create much with it.

Dean Shiels 4

Given very little time to make an impact on the match
