Brown fears ‘woeful’ Hibs may end survival hope

DUNDEE manager John Brown last night turned up the heat amid the on-going relegation battle by accusing Scottish Cup finalists Hibs of chucking the SPL.

Brown travelled to Easter Road on Monday night to watch Pat Fenlon’s side share a drab 0-0 draw with Aberdeen and came away convinced the Edinburgh club are simply counting down the days until their 26 May glamour cup final showdown with Celtic. Dundee are relying on Hibs to do them a big favour against St Mirren this weekend as Danny Lennon’s side need only one more win to guarantee their survival and send the Dark Blues back down to the First Division.

And interim Dens Park manager Brown believes Saints are a stick-on to get that elusive victory should Hibs turn in another such “woeful” display in this weekend’s match.

Brown said: “I was at Easter Road on Monday night and I felt I was looking at a Hibs team waiting for a cup final. I didn’t see any hunger, desire or willingness to put their foot in. They should be playing for places in the final but from what I saw the other night, I can see St Mirren going there on Saturday and getting a result as I thought Hibs were woeful.”

Dundee are still buzzing from their last-gasp win away to St Mirren last weekend which kept their survival fight going into this Saturday’s home game with Hearts. And Brown has called on home fans to turn out in force in a bid to roar their favourites on to another victory as they refuse to throw in the towel.
