Beating Hibs would end tour ‘in style’

Rhodes notched 40 goals for The Terriers and five more for Scotland’s Under-21 side and has already got off the mark, scoring as the Championship new boys drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Now the 22-year-old, son of former Dunfermline goalkeeper Andy, is aiming to add to that tally in tomorrow’s friendly against Pat Fenlon’s side. He said: “It was nice to see the goal go in. I thought we passed the ball around well, especially considering we are a few weeks behind Kilmarnock in terms of preparation. It was good to pit our wits against a team who, at the moment, are probably fitter than us.”

Rhodes expects Hibs to be likewise, Fenlon’s squad  having returned from their whistle-stop tour in which they played four games in three different countries in the space of just seven days with tomorrow’s match their final one before they face Dundee United at Tannadice in their opening SPL fixture a week on Sunday.

He said: “Hibs will want to give us a good game as they kick off their season the following weekend. As always we will try and do the best we can during the game and in the lead up to it in training.

“Hopefuly we will finish off the tour in style.”

Meanwhile former Hibs star Derek Riordan has failed to win a move to English League One side MK Dons after having his trial period cut short because of concerns over his fitness.
