Hibs target Antonio Reguero and Keith Watson

HIBS boss Alan Stubbs has turned his attention to Spanish goalkeeper Antonio Reguero as he seeks to provide stiff competition for the gloves for No 1 Mark Oxley.

The big Yorkshireman, who played in all but one of the Easter Road club’s games last season on loan from Hull City, signed a new permanent two-year deal last week, but Stubbs wants to add another goalkeeper to his squad.

Swiss keeper Sascha Struder spent last week on trial at East Mains but, it is understood, Stubbs’ interest in the former Mansfield Town man has waned and 33-year-old Reguero is now in his sights as is ex-Dundee United defender Keith Watson, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Hibs, making nine appearances and showed his versatility at right-back, right wing-back and centre-half only to be ruled out of the final games of the season with injury.

With his Tannadice contract at an end, Watson travelled to La Manga for a week’s training ahead of Hibs’ first pre-season friendly against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield next Tuesday.

Striker Farid El Alagui joined winger Martin Boyle in being left behind as Hibs flew out yesterday, the two players still recovering from knee surgery.
