Hibs have confirmed that one of the club's players is “socially isolating” after contracting coronavirus.

A statement from the club read: “Hibernian FC today confirmed that a player is socially isolating after contracting coronavirus.

"The player, who is showing no symptoms, tested positive after he came into contact with the virus at home over the weekend.

"He has not been inside the stadium or training centre since contracting the virus, and will be isolated for ten days.”

It is the first known positive test at the club this season.

Cypriot midfielder Alex Gogic completed a period of self-isolation in September after a routine Covid-19 test had “required further investigation”.

Subsequent tests returned negative results but the Scottish FA and Scottish Government advised the club and player that a period of self-isolation should be completed.

Young left-back Josh Doig also spent a period of time self-isolating after a member of the Scotland Under-19 coaching staff returned a positive test during an international break.
