The incident is alleged to have taken place during Hearts’ 1-0 League Cup win at Easter Road on Wednesday.

Craig has until 3pm on Monday to respond to the notice of complaint from the Scottish FA. He remains free to play in tomorrow’s SPFL Premiership match against Motherwell at Fir Park, with a principal hearing date set for 7 November.

Craig has been accused of breaching disciplinary Rule 200, with the wording of the charge “violent conduct by kicking or attempting to kick an opposing player [namely Ryan Stevenson] in the face”.

If the complaint is upheld, the player will miss the following Premiership match – Hibs host Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday 9 November – and one match in the League Cup.
