Hibs keeping eye on Mckay

HIBERNIAN’S search for a new striker could see them make a move for Billy Mckay of Wigan.

Dundee United were thought to be in pole after they had a £200,000 offer for the former Inverness forward accepted by the English club. However, the Northern Irishman’s wage demands could yet prove a stumbling block for United.

And with doubt still hanging over the transfer, Hibs are understood to be monitoring the situation. Manager Alan Stubbs said yesterday: “I am not going to confirm or deny any names.”

Jackie McNamara, his counterpart at Tannadice, would only say: “We’re working on one or two things. There’s nothing concrete at the moment but we are still trying to get some stuff done. There’s nothing more to report [on Mckay] at this moment.”
