Calum Antell out for repeat glory at Tynecastle

CALUM Antell has already tasted victory against a host of tonight’s opponents in a Tynecastle cup tie against Hearts.

Now, the former Hibs keeper is desperate to replicate that success in this evening’s League Cup trip back to Gorgie.

Antell was a member of the Hibs youth side which defeated their city rivals 1-0 away from home, courtesy of a Ross Caldwell goal, in the SFA Youth Cup in January 2011.

In the opposition ranks that day were seven players who have since been fast-tracked into Gary Locke’s Hearts first-team following the troubled club’s sorry descent into administration in June.

Kevin McHattie, Callum Paterson, Scott Robinson, Jason Holt, David Smith and brothers Adam and Billy King all found themselves on the losing side two years ago as Antell kept a clean sheet to help Hibs progress.

And the 20-year-old would gladly accept the same outcome this evening as the Doonhamers seek to build on their extra-time victory over St Mirren in the last round.

Antell said: “I’m really looking forward to the game. It will be the first time I’ve played at Tynecastle since winning a Youth Cup tie against Hearts with Hibs a couple of years ago. That is my only appearance at Tynecastle, so I’m going there with a 100 per cent record and, hopefully, I can keep that going.

“I also sat on the bench for an Edinburgh derby at first-team level, but that was at Easter Road, so my only other experience of Tynecastle was sitting in the stand and watching games.”
