Stubbs is supportive of the plan that will see money put in by supporters used to fund the club’s playing staff.

He told hibernianfc.co.uk: “It’s really important everyone is united behind the plan and pulling in the same direction as we move forward together as a Club; on and off the pitch.

“I think supporters will be excited about taking the opportunity to have a bigger say in their club, and by buying the shares they will also help us to develop the team.

“So it’s a win-win – supporters get increased ownership and the money they spend goes directly to fund football, which is what the Club is all about – it’s a great deal.”

Earlier this week, prominent opponents to the share deal, the Hands on Hibs group, pledged to call a halt to their campaign against the Hibernian Supporters Limited plan following a meeting with Easter Road chiefs.

Hands on Hibs have vowed to back the team in its battle to win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership, while the club have agreed to hold a review into the share issue.
