Aberdeen winger suffers fresh injury setback

Aberdeen’s Matty Kennedy has called off injured from Northern Ireland international duty.

The Dons winger did not link up with Ian Baraclough’s side after picking up a recurrence of his knee injury in the 2-0 win over Hibs on Friday night.

The 26-year-old, signed from St Johnstone in January, is only just back fit from his knock and was able to play a part in the win at Pittodrie which send his side third in the SPFL Premiership before the international break.

But he won’t be participating as Windsor Park boss Baraclough revealed: “Unfortunately Matty Kennedy couldn't join up with us. He's just feeling something there again so Ryan [McLaughlin] has a chance to come into the group."

Northern Ireland face a play-off final with Slovakia for Euro 2020 qualification and follow it up with Nations League encounters with Romania and Austria.

Aberdeen moved above Hibs with last week’s win and head to Ibrox to face league leaders Rangers when domestic leagues resume.
