Hibs U-19s face up to City

Edinburgh CITY, sitting mid-table in the East of Scotland League Central Taxis Premier Division, face Hibs Under-19s at Meadowbank Stadium tonight in one of a series of challenge matches that the Easter Road youngsters have been undertaking during the winter break.

The Under-19s have already beaten Spartans (5-1), Alloa (5-1) and Airdrie United (4-3) and Jim McDonagh, Head of Academy Coaching, insists that these friendlies are an important aspect of the team’s development as they prepare for their next competitive game against Celtic in the Scottish League on Saturday, February 4.

“We always enjoy playing against East of Scotland League teams and Edinburgh City will give us another stern test tonight,” said McDonagh.

Gary Jardine, City’s co-manager, said: “Following a long lay-off, some of our play has been sluggish in the last few weeks and John [Green, co-manager] and me are hoping that the challenge will give our players a boost.”

The game kicks off at 7.30pm with admission prices adults £5 and concessions £2.
