Hibs request meetings with fans over cup final disorder

Hibs have asked for individual meetings with supporters suspected of invading the Hampden Park pitch at the conclusion of the Scottish Cup final.

The club sent out letters, signed by safety officer Robert McGregor, informing each fan their membership had been put “on hold” until a meeting had taken place to “discuss any involvement” in the disorder.

Police Scotland are continuing to investigate the events, which has seen 38 supporters arrested so far.

Hibs are carrying out their own inquiries though refused to state how many supporters had been sent these letters.

The letters read: “The purpose of this letter is to advise you that I am in possession of information which infers that you were on the pitch at Hampden Park at the end of the match.

“The Club understands that supporters were overjoyed to win the Scottish Cup, however we also recognise that anyone leaving their seat and going on to the pitch is a serious matter, amounts to Unacceptable Conduct and places those on the pitch and others at risk.”
