HIBERNIAN

CONRAD LOGAN: The suspended Mark Oxley’s stand-in exceeded all expectations in his first game since 2014. Bulky frame helped him produce last-ditch stops from Billy Mckay, twice, and Henri Anier and followed an excellent save from John Rankin with two penalty shoot-out stops. 10/10

DAVID GRAY: Was like an extra attacker in the opening half hour and continued to impose himself on the game. 7

DARREN McGREGOR: Produced a great block on Ryan Dow and looked in command. 7

PAUL HANLON: Twice let Billy McKay in behind him, the second time through a lapse in concentration, but made a goalline clearance from Dow’s deflected shot. 5

LEWIS STEVENSON: The left-back did himself justice at both ends. 7

MARVIN BARTLEY: Helped Hibs dominate in opening half but the going got tougher as United improved. 6

FRSER FYVIE: Came close with a long-range strike but faded after the opening half. 6

LIAM HENDERSON: Never shirked responsibility but too often guilty of trying to over-play it. 5

JOHN McGINN: Made a good impact in the first half but was quieter afterwards. 6

ANTHONY STOKES: Just over with a long-range effort but otherwise offered little goal threat despite some tidy play. 6

JASON CUMMINGS: Had the confidence to try a Panenka penalty but not the technique. Could not make amends in normal play but took his shoot-out penalty with aplomb. 5

Substitutes

FARID EL ALAGUI (for Stokes, 78): Injury-plagued striker briefly added some physicality to the Hibs atatck before going off with a groin problem. 2

MARTIN BOYLE (for Henderson, 85): Failed to spark Hibs on the right wing but scored in the shoot-out. 4

CHRIS DAGNALL (for El Alagui, 96): Striker could not get involved. 3

DUNDEE UNITED

EIJI KAWASHIMA: Never had a serious save to make until the second period of extra-time when he pushed away a Jason Cummings effort. 6

KYLE KNOYLE: Gave the ball away numerous times in the opening stages but recovered from his nervy start. 6

CALLUM MORRIS: Looked uncomfortable throughout his 33 minutes on the park before being replaced as Mixu Paatelainen sacrificed one of his three centre-backs for a left-back. Lost the ball seconds before Hibs won their penalty. 4

SEAN DILLON: Brought some much-needed composure to the United back line. 7

COLL DONALDSON: Gave away a penalty when he missed a header and handled and looked vulnerable until limping off in the 73rd minute. 4

JOHN RANKIN: Like many in tangerine, struggled to get into the game, but came close with an extra-time strike. 6

PAUL PATON: Played through the pain barrier and set up a decent chance. 6

BLAIR SPITTAL: Tidy in possession but never looked confident enough to make a difference, an attitude that continued when his penalty was saved. 5

CHRIS ERSKINE: Partick Thistle-bound midfielder showed some good touches but his lack of match practice showed in his first start since the fourth-round win at Airdrie on January 9 and injury forced him off. 5

RYAN DOW: Grew into the game after an unconvincing start. 5

BILLY McKAY: Did well to twice get through on goal and hit the target both times, but failure to score seemed to dent his confidence and he missed again in the shoot-out. 5

Substitutes

PAUL DIXON (for Morris, 33): Justified his early introduction by bringing balance and compsure to United. 7

GUY DEMEL (for Donaldson, 73): Came on at centre-back and produced a commanding display. 6

HENRI ANIER (for Erskine, 76): Added some life to United’s attacking play. 6
