Hegarty handed new Tannadice contract

PAUL Hegarty last night sealed his permanent return to Dundee United on a three-year contract.

The former Tannadice defender, who led the club for a brief period in 2002, joined Peter Houston's coaching staff in January and will now stay on along with assistant Gary Kirk.

"Heggy has met the chairman and everything is agreed," said Houston.

"Gary Kirk is going to see him on Friday and I expect he will sign as well."
