Filming had already taken place prior to the announcement with fans having spotted TV crews following certain members of the club’s staff.

The show, split into three one-hour long episodes, was expected to chronicle the 2019/20 season.

“The focus is not just on what happens on the pitch but on the supporters and inner workings of the club in all areas and at all levels," the club said when announcing the documentary.

“The series will let viewers better understand the complexities and challenges involved in running an SPFL club.”

Hearts had noted an on-air date would be announced after the season finished. However, the documentary is still in production and the Evening News understand it will cover the start of the new season.

Robbie Neilson’s men won’t get their league campaign underway until the middle of October with a home fixture against Dundee.

The 2019/20 campaign proved to be a tumultuous one. The club sacked Craig Levein and appointed Daniel Stendel before the coronavirus pandemic brought Scottish football to a standstill with the team bottom of the Premiership.

Relegation to the Championship was confirmed on Monday after the Scottish FA arbitration panel delivered their verdict on the club’s challenge to the SPFL to have the demotion overturned.

Inside Tynecastle is not the first time Hearts have been the feature of a BBC documentary with the broadcaster having produced a behind-the-scenes show on Vladimir Romanov and his ownership of the club.
