'Premiership should be scared next season', 'Couldn't be prouder', 'Worst penalties you'll see' : Fans react to Hearts Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic

Optimism was high for Jambos going into this afternoon’s Scottish Cup final against Celtic.

The Hoops had seen some indifferent form over the past couple of months, while Robbie Neilson’s side sit on top of the Championship.

However after a close final, the Premiership side retained their trophy in the sequel to the 2019 showpiece – only this time the result was a lot closer, needing penalties to separate the sides after two comebacks from the Jam Tarts.

@stephenpilton_: “The Premiership should be scared for next season. If this Hearts team can stay relatively intact boy they could be class!”

@CraigMoncur: “Not gonna lie, I am absolutely gutted but it was one of the most entertaining cup finals I have seen. Win the Championship, get back where we belong and continue to build. Odds were stacked against us, Scotland is an uneven playing field, Quadruple Treble proves that.”

We deserved more but to take them all the way to penalties having been 2-0 and 3-2 down I am just so proud. Now let’s go and win this championship and get back where we belong.”

@sc1874: “Look, really good performance, amazing comeback, and ultimately very unlucky. But again it’s papering over the cracks somewhat. Phrases like “legends” and “never been so proud”. Rein it in. It was good but not good enough. Still a lot to do this year and next.”

@BarntnDiscoPunk: “I'm trying to keep quiet cos if it wasn't for Kingsley and Wighton we wouldn't have been in the final. And I don't want to be that guy. But they were two of the worst penalties you're likely see. If that was a youth player you were coaching you'd be furious.”
