The West Lothian club were reportedly linked with an approach for the former Hearts right back, along with fellow Scottish league clubs Stirling Albion and Forfar Athletic, during the summer.

Thomson eventually signed a one-year deal to remain at Newtongrange, where he’s been a star performer since signing in July 2014.

The once promising right back has been out of Scottish senior football since pleading guilty to lewd libidinous and indecent behaviour towards two underage girls.

Although Hearts chose not to sack the player, he never played again for the Tynecastle club and spent time on loan in Lithuania with FBK Kaunas and FK Suduva before his release.
