Hide AdHearts are eager to have Oshaniwa signed and registered ahead of the new season after he was granted a UK work permit earlier this month. The 24-year-old left-back has been stuck in his country’s capital for more than two weeks awaiting confirmation of his visa, which now appears to have arrived.
Oshaniwa said: “I already picked the passport up from the embassy and visa is issued.” He will now head to Scotland, where he will sign a long-term contract with Hearts.
“He is desperate to get over and we are desperate to get him,” said head coach Robbie Neilson. “I spoke to him again on Monday and it’s just a process that takes for ever.
“We had to wait to get the visa and then they sent the documents over there.
“They have to post them out, so it’s a process that is taking forever. He’s just been waiting for the postman to come.
“Now we will get him on a flight. He has been training over there and he thinks he is only a week to ten days away from full fitness, so that’s positive.”
