Camelon’s much-postponed Scottish Cup first round match with Brora Rangers will be the last lower-league encounter to take place before Scottish football’s suspension.

The Scottish FA announced a three-week break for all competitions outwith the SPFL Premiership and Championship this morning, and all Scottish Cup ties to be played this month were cancelled and rescheduled.

However Camelon’s match with the Highland League champions – which finally looked to be going ahead at the sixth attempt – to decide who would face Hearts in the second round HAS been given the go-ahead, according to the Carmuirs Park club.

That means Robbie Neilson will at least find out who lies in wait for his team once football resumes and the competition restarts in February.

The initial meeting on Boxing Day was abandoned at half-time and since then attempts to play the game at Camelon’s canalside home on the west of Falkirk, and on a synthetic surface at nearby Denny, have failed.

The Mariners were confident of a match in more favourable weather conditions tonight, before the SFA announcement, but Camelon say they have had ‘official confirmation’ the game can take place.

All football outwith the Premiership and Championship will cease until at least February 1, the SFA said this morning.

The winner of Camelon v Brora will play last season’s beaten finalists Hearts in round two with the winner of that tie already lined up for a home tie with League Two Stranraer.
