Robbo embarked on a summer fitness challenge earlier this year and is now so fit he’s training with a 12kg vest on – equalling the same amount of weight he has lost.

The Jambos’ record league goalscorer took up Power Plates – favoured by the likes of Madonna and Kylie Minogue – in June this year after accepting a challenge from Edinburgh’s Fitness Studio EH1, where he has been training ever since.

Admitting he was out of shape – and with an arthritic hip and high blood pressure – he set out to shape up, lose a small amount of weight and boost his overall wellbeing on an eight-week challenge, but he has now gone on to lose more than 12kg after getting a fitness fix.

He said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the difference taking on the initial summer fitness challenge has made to my overall health and wellbeing.

“Having lost 12kg from the original challenge, through expert personal training from Miguel and Darren at Fitness Studio EH1 – combined, of course, with a proper diet plan – it has totally turned my health around. I’ve lost nearly 29lbs and dropped two waist sizes. The energy I now have for everyday life is fantastic.

“I’ve gone from having zero motivation to do any kind of exercise to now looking forward to my daily workout and can’t praise Fitness Studio EH1 staff enough for their expertise encouragement. They have given me so much confidence and showed me how to rediscover a level of fitness that suits my lifestyle.

“This encouragement has
made me determined to
continue with a workout that maintains a healthy outlook and at an intensity that won’t push me too far with my arthritic hip. The weight I’ve lost has taken so much pressure off the joint, which is now less painful than before the challenge.

“The 25-minute start-to-finish workout fits in perfectly and the sessions are brilliantly designed to suit any level of intensity required thanks to the expertise and knowledge of the instructors.”

Power Plates work by adopting the principles of acceleration training to stimulate the body’s natural response to vibration. It’s the rapid cycle of muscle contraction which makes its training so effective.

The training gives a full body workout in 25 minutes – making it popular with today’s busy lifestyles and for boosting core strength and improving balance. It has been made famous by stars such as Madonna, Kylie and Jonathan Ross but, contrary to popular belief, is more than just a fad – having been around for five decades.
