Hearts to learn Scottish Cup opponents on Wednesday as Camelon and Brora change venue

Hearts will learn their Scottish Cup second-round opponents on Wednesday after the rescheduled tie between Camelon and Brora Rangers was switched to a new venue.

The 2020/21 Scottish Cup competition is well underway.

The first-round tie was abandoned on Boxing Day because of a waterlogged pitch at Camelon’s Carmuirs Park. Subsequent attempts to play it have failed due to the now-frozen surface, so the clubs agreed to move it to Westfield Park in Denny on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

The home of Dunipace Juniors, Westfield’s astroturf surface should ensure the game goes ahead with the winners due to host Hearts in the next round.

The Edinburgh club will have a far easier journey if Camelon prevail but Highland League champions Brora are the favourites. An eight-hour round trip north awaits Hearts if they win.

A statement on Camelon’s social media channels read: “The pitch that froze the day after we last played is still refusing to defrost despite our best efforts. So we've moved our

@ScottishCup match against @brorarangers to Westfield Park on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Still strictly behind closed doors.”

Camelon took their place in the first round with a 4-1 win away to another Highland League club, Deveronvale, in the Scottish Cup’s second preliminary round.

They had hoped to use home advantage at Carmuirs but inclement weather has forced them to see an alternative venue nearby. Westfield Park is just five miles away.

Hearts played in the delayed 2019/20 Scottish Cup final just over two weeks ago. As a Championship side, must start earlier than usual in the 2020/21 edition of the tournament.
