Hearts to make late call on fitness of Jonsson and Suso

HEARTS will take late decisions on the fitness of defender Eggert Jonsson and midfielder Suso Santana for tomorrow's SPL meeting with Motherwell at Tynecastle.

However, goalkeeper Marian Kello is expected to return and midfielder Adrian Mrowiec is free from suspension.

Manager Jim Jefferies will seek medical advice on whether to include Jonsson in the squad after the Icelander returned from international duty with a badly bruised cheekbone last week. He was banned for the Edinburgh derby but is available again, fitness permitting.

Suso has an ongoing knee complaint but played 45 minutes in a closed-door friendly earlier this week. Jefferies is hopeful that the Spaniard will be declared fit, with Kello recovered from a back injury and Mrowiec's ban complete.

"Suso's training again," said Jefferies. "He's one, like Rudi Skacel, that sometimes his knee clears up a wee bit. He played 45 minutes in a closed-doors game this week. But he could come in tomorrow and inflame his knee again. Eggert's a doubt because of the clash he got, but there's nothing dislodged or broken. We'll have to take advice before we decide who's fit."

With captain Marius Zaliukas banned following his red card at Easter Road, Andy Webster will don the armband for Hearts tomorrow in a match which marks the 125th anniversary of Tynecastle Stadium.

Meanwhile, Jefferies revealed that defender Lee Wallace has an outside chance of recovering from ankle ligament damage in time to play again before the end of the season.

"I'm not saying he'll be out for the rest of the season. He'll maybe get some of the games but how long, I couldn't tell you."
