Hearts suffer heaviest Tynecastle league defeat in 44 years
Scott Sinclair bagged a hat-trick, while Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts also found the back of the net to secure the title for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
It means the pressure mounts on head coach Ian Cathro, who watched as his side fell apart after a promising opening where they bettered Celtic prior to Sinclair’s first.
It’s the worst defeat Hearts have suffered at Tynecastle since the 7-0 mauling by the same opponent in the Scottish Cup in 2013.
And it’s the heaviest league loss at Tynecastle since the infamous New Year derby of 1973, where Hibs bettered their rivals by seven goals to nil.
Prior to Sunday’s match, the previous heaviest defeat was a 5-1 loss to Celtic in 1984. The Glasgow side also stretched their unbeaten run against Hearts to 18 games in all competitions.
