Hearts sign Czech Republic striker Skacel for a second time

HEARTS manager Jim Jefferies today welcomed Rudi Skacel back to Edinburgh as the Czech Republic international signed on for the Tynecastle side for the second time.

Midfielder Skacel agreed a one-year deal with the Jambos this morning, with the option to extend that contract for a further year.

The 31-year-old quit Greek side Larissa to rejoin Hearts and his arrival is sure to please the Edinburgh club's supporters.

Skacel scored Hearts' goal in the 2006 Scottish Cup final against Gretna and, with 17 goals to his name that season, was a cult hero with the fans.

Jefferies said: "He is an experienced player and will add to competition for places. I don't imagine him being with us for Saturday as he only arrives in Edinburgh this afternoon.

"He was a popular player when he was here before and will have more experience about him this time. If he produces more of the same form that he showed the last time, I am am sure that the fans will take to him quickly again."
