Hearts lose appeal against Jamie Walker's ban for diving

Hearts have lost their appeal of the two-game ban handed out to attacker Jamie Walker for an act of simulation in the club's 2-1 defeat to Celtic.

Walker levelled from the spot after winning the penalty himself. He went down under the attentions of Kieran Tierney, though television replays show minimal, if any, contact was made.

The 23-year-old was cited by the compliance officer and retrospectively suspended for two games.

Hearts immediately announced their intention to appeal the decision. They argued the incident was similar to another controversial penalty award when John Guidetti went to ground against Hearts during a Scottish Cup match in the 2014-15 season. Though no contact was made, Guidetti escaped retrospective punishment.

Their bid to have the suspension lifted was rejected. Walker will now be unavailable for the next two league games – Saturday’s visit to Aberdeen and Inverness’ trip to Tynecastle the following weekend.
