Hamilton training is ‘murder’ for Christian Nade

Christian Nade feels he will hit the ground running when he gets back in the Hamilton team – thanks to their
“murderer” fitness coach.

Nade has come off the bench in the past five games but credits Accies’ sports scientist Colin Clancy with ensuring he is ready if picked to face St Johnstone at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

“When you only play 20 minutes, it’s not easy,” said Nade. “It’s actually harder than starting the game.

“But I think I have done well and if I get an opportunity to start I need to be ready for that. “The fitness coach knows how to keep me on my toes. Training is a really high level. Tuesday and the Wednesday are really, really hard.

“He’s a murderer! He’s one of the best I have worked with. He makes you work really, really hard and smiles, so you cannot even be angry at him. You just have to try to please him, and when you see the results you are happy and want more and more.”

Nade scored twice in August but has found himself behind on-loan Norwich striker Carlton Morris, whose two goals for Accies also came in August.

The former Hearts and Raith Rovers striker said: “As a player of course it’s frustrating but he’s doing very well and the team is doing very well so there is no complaint about that.

“I just have to keep myself on my toes and if there is any opportunity I need to take it and embrace it.

“If I want to play I need to be better. If he is doing stuff that I don’t do then I need to work to do the same and bring my own skills to be in the team.”
