Hamilton return for Nigel Hasselbaink

NGIEL Hasselbaink believes he can thrive in an exciting Hamilton side after completing his return to New Douglas Park.

Hasselbaink has signed for the Scottish Premiership side until the end of the season, but there is an extension option.

The former St Mirren and St Johnstone player was released by Greek top-flight club Veria on Monday ahead of the transfer deadline.

And the 24-year-old - who scored four goals for Accies during the 2010-11 season - was snapped up by Hamilton player/manager Martin Canning following the departures of his two top goalscorers, Tony Andreu and Mickael Antoine-Curier.

The Dutchman could make his return to action in the Scottish Premiership contest with Kilmarnock on Saturday, if international clearance comes through.

Hasselbaink told STV: “I had four offers from Scotland, a couple from Romania, two in Cyprus and one in Australia.

“But I spoke with Martin and I had a good feeling about coming back to Hamilton. The way they play football and where they are in the league just gave me a good feeling to come back.
