Hamilton Accies 1-1 Livingston: May’s day

Hamilton Accies’ on-loan striker Stevie May grabbed a dramatic equaliser in the last minute to boost their confidence before they face Falkirk in the Scottish Cup quarter-final this week.

Billy Reid’s side salvaged a point when May scrambled the ball home after a cut-back from the right by Gary Fraser.

Accies almost made the most sensational start when after just 13 seconds May put Ali Crawford through on the left, but his angled drive was turned round at his near post by goalkeeper Andy McNeil.

McNeil had to come to Livingston’s rescue again in 12 minutes when he was at full stretch to palm a 20-yard snap shot from May round his right-hand post. Livi threatened again six minutes from the break when Stefan Scougall and Liam Fox combined to set up Anthony Andreu, but the Frenchman blasted over from 15 yards.

Livingston thought they had got the winner in 77 minutes after good work on the right by Scougall found Russell in front of goal to bundle the ball over the line, but May popped up deep into stoppage time. It was just reward for the young St Johnstone striker who had been a thorn in the side of Livingston’s defence all afternoon.
