Graeme Murty keen on Rangers job but Derek McInnes favourite
The club’s development squad coach is in his second stint as caretaker boss, following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha on Thursday, and, after he guided the side to a desperately-needed 3-1 win over Hearts at Murrayfield yesterday, the fans chanted his name.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes remains the over- whelming favourite to succeed Caixinha and Rangers are expected to ask for permission to speak to their former player. But Murty made it clear that he would be willing to step into the void if that move falls through. “I would find it difficult to turn it down, but I didn’t come north of the Border to become Rangers manager. I came to further my career and concentrate on being excellent and improving every day and where I end up will be a consequence of my personal standards on a day-to-day basis.

“If that’s deemed to be good enough, then fine. If not, then the club will go in a different direction and I will be fully supportive of the guy who will be a very fortunate individual to take this club forward.”
