French–born Poles deny rift in squad

Poland’s French-born players Damien Perquis and Ludovic Obraniak have played down reports of a split in their squad, saying they feel integrated despite speaking little Polish.

At a news conference conducted mainly in French yesterday, Obraniak denied that he feels uncomfortable in the Polish set-up and that several players did not want him there.

“I’ve only learned about this from you. I’m shocked and disgusted. I feel Polish and I like my team mates,” he said ahead of Friday’s opener against Greece.
