The first goal, scored by
Callum McDonald (St Modan’s High School), was a 20-yard angled strike which gave home keeper Harry Purves (Chryston High School) no chance.

The goal followed a great through ball by Taylor Evans (Graeme High School) which gave McDonald the space and time for his shot. Having missed a first-half penalty and struck the bar in the second half, Callum was both relieved and delighted to see his shot flying home on the hour mark.

The same player was involved in Forth Valley’s second goal which sealed their win and his honour of man of the match. His excellent first-time pass, after good play by Laurie Devine (Graeme High School), set up Declan Woods (Stirling High School) who finished off a great move from eight yards out.

Lanarkshire fought to the end and looked for a penalty with ten minutes to go, but referee Steve Allan, who had an excellent game, considered that the players had collided together and waved away the claims.

Forth Valley had played well in the first half, Harry stopping the penalty and producing a number of terrific saves.

The visitors’ back four and goalkeeper Ross Connolly (Graeme High School) were excellent and able to suppress the Lanarkshire forwards.

Forth Valley will now visit West Lothian for the final match a week on Thursday.
