Forfar 3-2 Dunfermline: Forfar fightback dumps Pars out of Ramsdens Cup

Second Division Forfar staged a Ramsdens Cup shock as they sent Dunfermline packing with a sunning second-half fightback

The Pars had led 2-1 at the break after Ryan Wallace and Andy Barrowman cancelled out Omar Kader’s early opener.

However, Danny Denholm’s strike and Paul Gallacher’s fumble at a Gavin Swankie cross turned the game on its head to send the Loons into the second-round draw.

Dunfermline played some superb football in the opening period. It was Forfar who struck the first blow, though, on 13 minutes as Danny Denholm’s drive was parried by Pars keeper Paul Gallacher into the path of Kader who fired in the rebound. Their lead lasted just 60 seconds as Joe Cardle latched onto Josh Falkingham’s crossfield pass to cut back for Ryan Wallace, who drove in from 15 yards. The Pars then took control before Barrowman chipped Derek Soutar and made it 2-1 to the Pars at half-time.

Andy Dowie cracked an 18-yard effort off the post for the Pars on 51 minutes before Forfar levelled when Denholm skipped into the box and lifted the ball over the advancing Gallacher to leave the tie in the
balance at 2-2.

If he could do nothing about that strike then the next Forfar goal was a personal disaster for the one-time Scotland shot-stopper as he fumbled a Swankie cross into his own net.
