Football briefs: Motherwell | Aguero | Moyes

MOTHERWELL have scooped an awards double after Nicky Law was named Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month for March.

The former Sheffield United midfielder collected his prize a day after Stuart McCall was revealed as the manager of the month after Motherwell went through March unbeaten with victories over Hearts, Dundee and Hibernian consolidating their second-placed position.

Law, 25, scored twice against Dundee at Dens Park and his shot was turned home by Hearts defender Dylan McGowan as Motherell won at Tynecastle.

• Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will face no action for his two-footed challenge on Chelsea’s David Luiz.

The Football Association has confirmed that the Argentina striker will not be charged retrospectively for the incident in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

It follows confirmation that referee Chris Foy had at least seen part of the incident and acted on it during the match – Chelsea were awarded a free-kick. Both of Aguero’s boots made contact with the upper part of Luiz’s left leg.

• Everton manager David Moyes accepts tonight’s clash against Arsenal at the Emirates could be vital to their Champions League aspirations. The Toffees are three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who have a match in hand, and four off the Gunners in third.

Moyes said: “It is a vital game now because games are running out. I think if we have any small chances of making the Champions League we have to get something out of it and peg back Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.”

Midfielder Tomas Rosicky should return for Arsenal.
