First defeat for McInnes as Dons boss

Aberdeen tasted defeat for the first time since manager Derek McInnes was appointed in April as Peterhead saw off a strong XI from their top-flight north eastern neighbours to lift the Scottish Week Cup with a 3-2 success at Balmoor last night.

Aberdeen native Rory McAllister sent Nicky Weaver the wrong way from the penalty spot with 24 minutes played after he had been fouled by Russell Anderson.

Jordan Brown, who was released from his Pittodrie contract by McInnes recently, grabbed a double in the space of three minutes as he nipped in ahead of Weaver twice to head home to have Peterhead three up after 36 minutes.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Billy McKay went two goals better than his recent two pre-season hat-tricks by scoring five times as Arbroath were seen off 7-1 at Gayfield.

Dumbarton held on to lift the 2012/ 2013 Stirlingshire Cup with a 3-2 success over Falkirk at the Bet Butler Stadium.
