Fifa order Scotland to wear pink against England at Wembley

The Scots will not be allowed to wear the famous dark blue for the vital game on 11 November, despite England’s home kit being predominantly white.

It is thought the ruling was made due to the white sleeves on Scotland’s current home jersey.

The SFA submitted images of both Scotland’s kits to Fifa’s World Cup match commissioner, who decided the Scots should play in their away colours – pink shirts, black shorts and black socks. England will wear white shirts with light blue sleeves, white shorts and red socks.

According to Fifa rules, in World Cup qualifiers, home teams are entitled to wear their “kit of choice”.

The rules go on: “If the two teams’ colours might cause confusion, the host team shall be entitled to wear its official team kit and the visiting team shall use its reserve team kit or, if necessary, a combination of the official and the reserve team kits.”

Gordon Strachan’s side go into the clash fourth in Group F with four points from three games, while England, under interim boss Gareth Southgate, top the group on seven points.
