Fans get shirty with solo visitor

UDINESE fan Arrigo Brovedani had no problems finding a seat when he travelled to Genoa to see his Serie A team take on Sampdoria – because he was the only visiting supporter in the entire ground. Wine merchant Brovedani said it was a cold Monday night and Udinese seldom attracts more than 50 away fans. “When I went in the local fans booed me, I felt a bit offended,” he said. “But in the end they clapped and invited me for coffee and a meal, and the club managers gave me a shirt.”

The area of Friuli, where Udinese are based, is about a four-hour drive from Genoa.
