Hearts frontman Craig Beattie proved to be the nearest challenger to the Dons man, claiming 33 per cent of the vote after his strike in the 2-2 draw with St Mirren. The former Celtic striker also featured in the replay in Paisley, as the Jambos ran out 2-0 victors.

Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley finished in third place with eight per cent of the vote, while Hibs’ Irish striker Roy O’Donovan brought up the rear with just three per cent of votes cast.

Meanwhile, Willie Collum, who was in charge of last month’s Scottish Communities League Cup Final between Celtic and Kilmarnock, will return to Hampden a week on Saturday, 14 April, to handle the Scottish Cup semi-final between Aberdeen and Hibs.

Collum will be supported by assistant referees Graham Chambers and Tom Murphy, with Alan Muir acting as the fourth official for the game that kicks off at 12.15pm and is being shown live on BBC Scotland and Sky Sports.
