Falkirk 3 - 1 Raith Rovers: Falkirk win big

SINCE the capture of Mark Millar on loan from Dundee United and the return of David McCracken from injury, Falkirk have emerged as legitimate title contenders with a fine run of form that they extended with this comfortable victory over Raith Rovers.

It was the hosts’ third win in a four-game unbeaten span when they’ve scored 12 and conceded just three.

McCracken, in particular, was tremendous as he continually repelled the Rovers attacks. The visitors shaded possession over the 90 minutes but, only once the game was out of reach did they begin to mirror the threat of Falkirk, and, even then, Greig Spence’s consolation that squeezed under the keeper was the only chance of note.

By that time Grant Murray’s team were 3-0 down. The scoring started early when an unsuspecting Craig Sibbald managed to divert a cross from the left into the bottom corner. Connor McGrandles then doubled the advantage, spinning away from his marker and drilling under the goalkeeper. The third could have been disallowed when Stephen Kingsley headed the ball out of Ross Laidlaw’s grasp but, even if each goal was fortuitous, there was nothing lucky about the win.
