Falkirk 2 - 5 Livingston: Yogi’s charges comes good

Livingston boss John Hughes departed the Falkirk Stadium with cries of “we want six” having drowned out the hostility of the home support after a remarkable triumph at his former club.

“Yogi”, who spent over six years at the Bairns before leaving to join Hibernian in 2009, saw his charges demolish the hosts with a scintillating attacking display.

Despite a damning final scoreline, it was Falkirk who dominated early proceedings, and took the lead through a neat Farid El Alagui chip, his 25th goal of a prolific campaign. However, Hughes’ side regrouped and produced a laudable comeback. Rory Boulding netted a first-half brace, doubling his previous tally for the season with two calm finishes past young Bairns keeper Graham Bowman, standing in for the suspended Michael McGovern.

Bobby Barr also claimed a second-half double, both strikes ably assisted by the solo runs and sumptuous deliveries of Keaghan Jacobs. Iain Russell also got in on the fun for a rampant Livi with a spot-kick following a bizarre near-post handball by Thomas Scobbie. David Weatherston’s goal for Falkirk was scant consolation.
