Falkirk 2 - 1 Hamilton: No Small feat as Bairns grab points

Lewis Small made a big impact with his first-ever senior goal as a brace of teenage kicks rescued victory from the jaws of defeat for Falkirk, writes Alan Temple at Falkirk Stadium.

With the clock ticking towards a seemingly inevitable share of the spoils, the 17-year-old, a late substitute making only his second ever appearance, pounced on a loose ball inside the box to lash a powerful drive into the roof of the net.

That came a matter of minutes after Conor McGrandles, also just 17, but a relative veteran compared to Small with two full starts under his belt, showed admirable poise inside the box to cut inside two defenders and fire a low shot through Kevin Cuthbert.

The comeback sent manager Steven Pressley dashing on to the pitch in celebration after it had looked for a long period as though a stubborn Hamilton would claim the spoils.

With the mercury touching zero in Falkirk, it was perhaps appropriate that the home side were lamentably frozen in place as they allowed Jonathan Page to drift into the box and connect with an Ali Crawford free-kick, heading into the corner of the net in 58 minutes.
