Falkirk 1 - 0 Queen of the South: Dods spares Miller’s blushes

Mark Millar had Darren Dods to thank for getting him off the hook after the veteran defender scored a 95th-minute winner to move Falkirk into third

Millar had just missed a penalty kick moments beforehand and from the resultant corner managed to find Dods who forced the ball into the net.

It was as dull a match as you’ll see this season but there’s no doubt the ending was one to warm the home fans up on a bitterly cold day at Falkirk Stadium.

Millar had come closest in a disappointing first-half when he wriggled through a few challenges before unleashing a superb effort. Apart from that there was little in the way of goal-scoring opportunities.

The game erupted in 94 minutes when Mark Campbell fouled Falkirk striker Farid El Alagui and referee John Beaton pointed to the spot.

Millar stepped up but goalkeeper Lee Robinson guessed correctly and the ball was eventually scrambled for a corner.

The midfielder then supplied Dods for the winning goal to the delight of the fans, though an ankle injury to young Craig Sibbald will be a worry for Steven Pressley.
