Dumbarton 1 - 1 Falkirk: Logical draw to game

A GOAL by Connor McGrandles for the visitors followed by an equaliser by substitute Bryan Prunty ensured a logical draw to a hard-fought game.

The Sons had the better first-half chances with Aaron Barry rising unchallenged in the 18th minute to head over a free kick by new boy Scott Smith.

Two minutes later Scott Agnew thought his well struck effort from 24 yards was netbound all the way, but visiting goalkeeper Mike McGovern rose to the occasion and brilliantly tipped the ball one-handed over the bar.

In 44 minutes McGovern was less secure and was thankful to see a ball that slipped from his grasp booted clear.

From the Bairns’ only clear attempt on goal, in 26 minutes, home ’keeper Jamie Ewings got down to deal with a crisp shot by Blair Alston.

In 61 minutes, the Sons failed to clear a corner and McGrandles forced the ball home.

In the next minute only desperate work by Ewings prevented Phil Roberts adding a second. However, with seven minutes left, Prunty grabbed the equaliser, side-footing home a ball chested on by Kevin Smith.
