Cowdenbeath 1 - 1 Falkirk

Neither side showed enough guile or composure in front of goal to snatch a winner as a desperately disappointing affair ended in a share of the points, writes Alex Dowdalls at New Douglas Park.

SCORERS:

Cowdenbeath - Coult 18

Falkirk - Weatherston 3

Falkirk made a sensational start, edging in front after just three minutes, when Kieran Duffie whipped over a perfectly weighted deep cross from the right to the far post for David Weatherston to volley past goalkeeper Thomas Flynn on the angle, eight yards out.

Cowdenbeath, who managed to avoid a third successive defeat, levelled in 18 minutes when the gangling Lewis Coult showed as sharp turn of pace to get in behind the Bairns defence and fire low past goalkeeper Michael McGovern from 12 yards.

The Fifers should have got the winner in 34 minutes but Kenny Adamson missed an open goal from two yards out after being set up by a low driven cross from the right by Jamie Stevenson.
