Europa League: Scots discover possible opponents

ABERDEEN, Motherwell and St Johnstone have all found out who they will face if they can advance to the next round of the Europa League.

If Aberdeen can get past Dutch side Groningen, they will face Spanish outfit Real Sociedad.

The Dons and Groningen drew 0-0 at Pittodrie last night, with the second leg due to take place in the Netherlands next week.

Motherwell, who lost a two-goal lead against Icelandic side Stjarnan to draw 2-2, could come up against former Dundee United defender Barry Douglas and Lech Poznan - but the Polish side trail 1-0 to Estonian club JK Nomme Kalju.

Kalju defeated Fram of Iceland 3-2 on aggregate in the first qualifying round.

St Johnstone, who recorded a respectable 1-1 draw away to Luzern in Switzerland, have been handed a tie against the winners of the match between Georgian club Zestafoni and Spartak Trnava of Slovakia, which is tied at 0-0 after the first leg.

Trnava defeated Hibernians of Malta 9-2 on aggregate prior to facing Zestafoni.
