The experienced defender, who already boasts 90 caps at the age of 28, trained with the Ibrox club last January alongside current Hibs midfielder Jorge Claros. McCoist was sufficiently impressed at the time to say: “We’ve been really impressed. Jaager is a very solid full-back and we’ll certainly be looking to make him an offer.”

However, no contract was agreed and the player moved to Norwegian football, joining Aalesunds two months later. He has since left the Tippeligaen outfit and is again a free agent. “You cannot be sure of a place in the team and there is good competition in the Estonia line-up,” said the full-back. “The head coach will decide but, if selected, of course I will try to impress. There is still time for me to find a club, and I am looking abroad. Work is already underway for me to try to find a club and some things are already in motion, but I would not want to say much more. For now I need to focus on Scotland.”
