East Select face a tough time against England C

THE curtain comes down on the East of Scotland Seniors League season tomorrow with a high-profile East Select game against the England "C" International team at Ainslie Park.

The England C team are using this representative match as a warm-up for their forthcoming International Challenge Trophy fixture against the Republic of Ireland at Waterford next Wednesday evening and the squad consists of full-time players from the Blue Square Conference League including those from Oxford United and York City, who were both in action in the play-offs at Wembley last weekend.

"It is a formidable task we have ahead of us," said the East Select manager Willie Darroch.

"We are playing against full-time professionals who recently beat the Poland under-23 team 2-1 away from home and they obviously have great experience in their team.

"However, we have quality players in our squad and I am looking for all of them to raise their game. We have experienced players in our squad who have played in the SFL and for the Scotland Semi-Pro team.

"Brian Foster and myself have watched players all season and we are happy with our squad.

"We will be drilling into our players before the game that they must keep their concentration levels high at all times. Our season has just ended for many of our players so there has not been a break and preparations have not been what I would have preferred although I know all the players selected will be a credit to the East of Scotland League."

The game kicks-off at 3.00pm at the Spartans Soccer Academy at Ainslie Park with admission prices adults 8.00 and concessions 4.00.

East Select squad: Sam Filler, Creag Robertson, Richard Milne (all Stirling Univ), Youssef Bejaoui (Whitehill Welfare), Kevin Sivewright, Sean McAuley, Keith McLeod, Alex King, Gavin Malin, Dean Hoskins, Omar Kader (all Spartans), Scott Fusco, Alasdair MacKinnon (both Edinburgh Univ), Gareth Thom (Tynecastle), Dean Rea (Gretna 2008), Kerr Dodds (Vale of Leithen), Douglas Gair, Andy Howat (both Edinburgh City), Wayne McIntosh (Lothian Th), Steven Radzynski (Leith Ath).
