East of Scotland: Spartans extend lead

Spartans marched 13 points clear at the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division after two penalties from Gavin Malin gave them a 2-0 win at home to second-placed Gretna 2008.

Edinburgh University moved into the top half after their 2-0 victory over bottom club, Selkirk. Edinburgh City recorded a 2-1 win against Civil Service Strollers with goals by Andy Howat and Robbie Ross, while Craig Dickson netted for the Strollers. Tynecastle defeated Vale of Leithen 3-1 with Robbie Arthur getting a double and Josh Morris also on the scoresheet, while Jordan Hall scored a late goal for Vale.

First Division leaders Preston Athletic were held 3-3 at Kelso United, while second-placed Heriot Watt University beat Easthouses Lily 1-0.

Eyemouth United won 3-0 at Ormiston, while Gala Fairydean beat Berwick Rangers Reserves 2-0.

In the semi-finals of the SFA South Region Challenge Cup, Stirling University beat Glasgow University 3-1 and Duns defeated Threave Rovers 2-1.
