East Fife offer trial to comedian Daniel Sloss

DONCASTER may have signed One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, but East Fife attempted their own celebrity signing today - by offering a trial to Daniel Sloss.

The London-born comedian moved to Fife aged four, and has played in the annual Critics vs Comics charity football match in the past, which was clearly enough for the Bayview side to consider offering Sloss the chance to join their ranks.

In a message sent from their official Twitter account, the Fifers wrote: “With Louis Tomlinson signing for Doncaster I wonder if @Daniel_Sloss fancies a trial for The Fife this Saturday!”

The comedian replied “Hahaha, God I’d love to but ‘beyond s***’ doesn’t even come close to describing me as a footballer!”

Poking fun at the English side signing the boyband musician, the East Fife account tweeted: “That’s why it’s only a trial. If we offered you a contract straight away people would just think its a publicity stunt.”

Sloss was one of the youngest participants in the So You Think You’re Funny? competition, the final of which is held at the Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and counts football amongst his hobbies.

Meanwhile Tomlinson, who used to work at the Doncaster stadium part-time, revealed he is only likely to play a reserve match later this year in order to raise money for charity.

The 21-year-old singer added: “This has always been a childhood dream for me. I feel very honoured to have been asked to sign for [Doncaster].

“We often play football with the lads, any time we get. Sometimes we might be on the road and just pull over at 3am at a local service station and just have a bit of a kickaround.”
